Rain Ashwood was born and raised in the Ozarks, surrounded by the hills, small towns, and close-knit families that would later find their way into her stories. Her husband, kids, dogs, and cats keep her days full and her house loud — family has always come first, and it shows in the found-family warmth running through everything she writes.
An avid reader her whole life, Rain always dreamed of writing her own books, and about a year ago, she finally started. She spent years working outdoors, hands in the dirt, and that love of growing things — plants, gardens, the quiet magic of watching something take root — became the heart of her writing.
Her books are set in Ozark towns she knows well, places she grew up in and around, because she's always thought they had stories worth telling. She writes cozy paranormal mysteries, but don't expect cauldrons or broomsticks — her magic is subtler than that. Rain believes people are often drawn to the work they're meant for by something intuitive, almost like a gift they didn't know they had, and she wanted her characters to feel that same quiet pull toward the world around them.
She's the author of the Sprig Mysteries and The Haunted Herb Shop of Eureka Springs, where green witches, haunted herb shops, and small-town secrets collide — and where the magic is less about spells and more about paying attention. Both series live in the same Ozark Universe, and Rain has plenty more stories, towns, and characters planned for readers to discover as it continues to grow.
